About this event
Are you thinking of paying your volunteers or board members? There are good reasons to consider doing so, such as recognising their contribution and experience including lived experience, attracting new volunteers, and increasing diversity, but it’s important to understand what it means for your organisation and the people involved.
In this webinar, we'll explore key legal issues and governance considerations to help you feel more confident about your options.
We'll cover:
- Defining the volunteer relationship
- What legal protections are available to volunteers
- What constitutes ‘payment’: going beyond reimbursement
- What the consequences of payment are for you and your volunteers
- Key legal issues to think about before you decide
- If you do pay your volunteers, top tips to help you achieve best practice
You'll receive:
- 75 minutes of plain-language training from a lawyer
- Copy of webinar recording (accessible for 3 months) and slide handout
- Information on further resources and support
