Governing a Not-for-profit Organisation

About this training session

Join an upcoming session as one of our lawyers will unpack the A-Z of governance and make sure you are fully aware of your legal obligations as a committee member.

Whether you’re new to the role, or you’ve been doing it for a while, there is always more to learn about your legal responsibilities.

You'll learn about:

  • The difference between governance and management and importance of planning for succession 
  • The legal status and structure of your organisation and what this means for governance   
  • The importance of your organisation’s rules and legal purpose or objects  
  • The four main legal duties of committee members  
  • Other laws that you should be aware of as a committee member  
  • Potential liabilities and how to protect yourself and your organisation 

 

You'll receive:

  • 3-hours of practical, plain language training from a lawyer delivered online via Zoom
  • A copy of the recording (accessible for 3-months) (online sessions only)
  • Top tips and additional resources to help you in the future

This training is supported by the Victorian Government.

Where?

Online via Zoom

You will receive a confirmation email once you have successfully registered. The Zoom link, meeting ID and passcode will be sent to you via email prior to the training, along with any resources for the session. Occasionally the confirmation emails can be prevented by an organisational firewall.
