Who delivers the training?

Our sessions are delivered by our in-house lawyers with extensive knowledge and understanding of the not-for-profit sector.

What’s included?

  • Obligation-free proposal
  • A call with your training lawyer before your confirmed training
  • A PDF copy of the training slides and other training resources for participants
  • A video recording of online sessions (accessible for three months)

Our pricing

We understand that not-for-profits often work within tight budgets. We strive to keep our fees affordable so that not-for-profits can access high quality, expert-led legal training without straining their resources.

Our standard pricing applies to sessions delivered online during business hours with standard customisation. Customised proposals available for multi-session or high-volume training. For a proposal, please contact us.

Session length Full fee Discounted fee (for not-for-profits)
3 hours  From $3,535 + GST From $2,505 + GST
1.5 hours  From $2,505 + GST From $1,725 + GST

How long does the training take?

Most of our sessions run for 3 hours, with a short break in the middle. They are interactive, practical, and include time for case studies and group discussions. If you prefer, a 3-hour session can be delivered in two 1.5-hour parts – we recommend scheduling these sessions no more than a week apart.

Some of our sessions run for 1.5 hours, which provide a high-level overview while still allowing time for questions, discussion, and short activities.

Our Managing Volunteers and the Law module can be delivered as either a 3-hour session, or a full day session (9am-4pm). The full-day format covers the same core content in greater depth, with additional related topics.

If you’re planning a full-day training, talk to us about combining two 3-hour modules to create a tailored program for your organisation.

When is training delivered? Can we do it after hours or on weekends?

We offer flexible delivery options to suit your organisations. Training can take place during business hours, in the evening, or over lunch. Our 3-hour sessions can be split into 2x 1.5-hour sessions for those who prefer shorter sessions. Weekend training is considered on a case-by-case basis, and is dependent on lawyer availability.

What if we can’t afford the full cost – can we share with another organisation?

Yes! Our sessions are for up to 30 participants. You can invite another organisation to join the session and share the costs.  For example, you may want to partner with a nearby community group, network or another not-for-profit organisation in your sector or with the same purpose. If so, we will speak to you about how much we could tailor the session. We will invoice your organisation directly, and you will be responsible for arranging the cost-sharing between you.

What topics can we choose from?

We cover a wide range of legal and governance topics relevant to the not-for-profit sector. Our most popular sessions include board member duties, legal structures, managing risk, conflicts of interest, privacy and data protection, and more. Browse the topics.

I’ve been on a board for a while, is this still relevant for me?

Absolutely. Our sessions are designed for all levels of experience, from new board/committee members to seasoned directors. We often deliver training for boards who want to refresh their governance knowledge, stay up to date with legal changes, or build confidence in areas such as risk management or privacy.

Where is training delivered?

We deliver training both online and in person, depending on your preferences and location. We can also discuss hybrid delivery, where one of our training lawyers delivers online to members of your organisation in-person in one room. We offer flexible delivery options to suit your organisation’s needs and schedule, and will work with you to find the format that works best.

Do you deliver training in regional or remote areas?

Yes. We work with organisations all over Australia, including regional and remote communities. We can deliver training online or, where feasible, travel for in-person sessions depending on your organisation’s needs. We will work with you to find the best option for you.

How much does training cost?

We offer affordable value-for-money pricing, with discounted rates for not-for-profits. Final costs depend on multiple factors, including delivery format, session length, and level of customisation. Contact us to receive a clear, no-obligation proposal.

Do participants receive resources or materials?

Yes. Every participant receives practical tools and resources, including a workbook for 3-hours session (which includes activities and links to key resources) , and links to our free online resources to support ongoing learning after the session.

Can we book multiple sessions or a series?

Yes. We regularly deliver training as part of multi-session programs or ongoing professional development series. If you’re building a training program for your organisation, we can help design a package that suits your goals and budget.

Do you offer training through councils, peak bodies, or government agencies?

Yes. We regularly partner with local councils, peak bodies, and government agencies to deliver training to the not-for-profit organisations they support. We also offer sessions for your internal team.
