Understanding your Not-for-profit's Constitution

About this event

Your not-for-profit’s constitution (or rules) is the key guiding document to ensure good governance. It’s also a legal requirement that an organisation and its members follow these rules. But it can be daunting to read and get to know your constitution.

In this webinar, we’ll step you through the key parts to a not-for-profit's governing document. Using examples and cases, we will give you the knowledge and confidence to understand and apply your constitution. We will discuss why the governing document is so important, and how using it can ensure members have confidence that your not-for-profit is not only compliant, but effective and well-run.

We’ll cover:

  • What is the legal status of the constitution?
  • What are the key topics addressed in a not-for-profit's constitution?
  • Practical tips for understanding and changing your constitution
  • Where to find more resources to help in the future

You'll receive:

  • 75 minutes of plain-language training from a lawyer
  • Copy of webinar recording (available for 3 months) and slide presentation
  • Information on further resources and support
